Greg Meyer, board-certified as both an Orthopedic Physician Assistant and a state-licensed Athletic Trainer, has developed and directed the Sports Medicine Outreach program at Dallas Orthopedic Center (DOC) since 2003. In addition to assisting the DOC physicians with surgery and patient care, Meyer works closely with local public and private schools, athletic clubs and local colleges to provide them quality sports-medicine care.
With his dual certification, Meyer brings an extensive range of invaluable experience to the position. Before joining DOC, Meyer served as the head athletic trainer at various high schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He also spent time working with collegiate, U.S. Olympic and professional-level athletes.
Recently, he provided athletic training services to the US Womens Softball Team tour before departure for Bejing. In 2007, he served as athletic trainer for the US Whitewater Slalom Canoe/Kayak team at the ICF Slalom World Championship held in Foz do Iguaca, Brazil. Previously Greg has served as a United States Olympic Training Center Volunteer in 2004 and United States Olympic International Games Volunteer in 2005.
A recognized and devoted leader in his field, Meyer also has distinguished himself as one of the co-founders and co-developer of the North Texas Athletic Trainers Society, serving on its inaugural board for three years. In addition, he is an examiner for the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and the Texas Department of Health Athletic Trainers Licensing Examination.
Meyer is an approved clinical instructor for the University of Texas at Arlington athletic training curriculum program and a member of the Orthopedic Physician Assistants educational board. He strives to help educate the professionals of tomorrow through presentations, lectures and clinical rotation of students.
Meyer resides in Keller and enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include running, reading, martial arts, golf and kayaking. |
